Our Mission

The primary objective of PCS is to provide University of Wisconsin-Madison students with educational opportunities to expand their knowledge of print culture, as well as international opportunities and exposure relating to various aspects of print culture. Consequently, PCS serves several purposes in the academic community:

  • Informational

Providing information on print culture resources and educational opportunities, both on and off-campus (lists of courses about print culture, seminars, grants and scholarships, travel and other opportunities).

  • Collaborative

Establishing a cooperative framework for the construction of long-term relationships by forming liaisons with similar organizations, language departments, history departments, art and art history departments, journalism and communication departments, and other groups with an interest in print culture.

  • International

Planning national and international visits to historical print culture sites and establishing partnerships for potential student exchanges.
