Delivering donations

Books entering the jail

Jail Library Volunteers must call the Sergeants’ Office at 284-6101 the day before delivering books.

Public Safety Building loading dock address: 114 W. Wilson St.

Two loading docks are available. Enter the door to the right of the loading docks to check in with Central Control. Ring buzzer if door is locked. Central Control staff will open one of the docks and allow volunteers to drive in and unload materials. No deliveries will be accepted between 7-7:30 am and 2:30-3:00 pm (during shift changes).

Please note: Books must be in boxes (no paper bags) and clearly marked for either PSB Library or CCB Library. Stack boxes against loading dock wall in separate piles; one for PSB, one for CCB.

The sergeants will contact Central Control to let them know about the delivery to the PSB loading dock and make arrangements for third shift to go through the books. After searching the materials, they will be delivered either to the 4th floor PSB Library or the CCB Library as indicated.

Trash/Recycling from the PSB library

Mark as "Trash" or "Recycling" as appropriate and leave a message for the sergeants or the jail volunteer coordinator. Pickup could take a day or two depending on who is available to collect the trash.

Book donations from the community

If the jail receives calls from the community re: book donations, they will refer the callers to the JLG coordinator, who will handle arrangements. No unsolicited donations will be accepted at the loading docks.
