James P. Danky, Faculty Associate in Journalism, Afro-American Studies, School of Library and Information Studies James P. Danky, Project Director, Newspapers and Periodicals of the African Diaspora, School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Danky founded the Center with Wayne Wiegand in 1992. He became Director Emeritus in 2006 and continues to co-edit the University of Wisconsin Press series. His latest book is Underground Classics: The Transformation of Comics into Comix (Abrams, 2009) and his research interests include alternative print culture and the press of the African Diaspora. Affiliates

Any member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison or of the Wisconsin Historical Society who has a declared interest in the history of print and digital culture may affiliate with the Center by sending an expression of interest and a CV or resume to the Director, who shall bring the request to the Advisory Board for approval. Affiliates shall receive notice of and (if necessary) formal invitations to all Center programs. They may be invited to meetings of the Advisory Board, and must be invited to discussions that determine the topic of the Center’s biennial conference.
